TAC 6 is now for sale at USG

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

8 months in the making, the new TAC6 cannon has been announced as a new product by USG.  Through close collaboration and multiple prototypes, USG and LobLab have arrived at what we feel is the ultimate only 6 shot repeating tennis ball launcher.

By focusing on ease of use, portability and low operation costs, the final product distills shooting pleasure down to it’s fundamental element: FUN.  From the meaty foregrip, to the satisfying shlotch of the slide; from the ease of loading to the healthy report, the TAC6 will delight your senses. Whether its busting cardboard boxes at your back yard range or giving your dog a workout, this cannon will become your go-to gun when it comes to recreational shooting.

This video is a short introduction of the BL-520T (Tactical) by Sureshot. The tactical series is a moderately priced line of launchers that use Sureshot Inc’s proprietary UHMW rounds, AR-15 pistol grip, and all new fuel metering system.

For more information, check out the fully assembled BL-520T. A nice discussion thread was started last Friday on Spud Files as well.

Spud Gun Ammo: “2″ Compound Round Testing Video

Sunday, December 13th, 2009

We were excited to see that the folks over at Spud Files posted a video and review testing our spud gun ammunition – the 2″ UHMW compound rounds. Here’s the video posted on PCGUY62234’s YouTube channel.

From the forum thread:

Mike from www.UltimateSpudGun.com sent me some of his 2″ UHMW compound rounds for me to test out. …I decided to take them over to my buddies house along with the BL-520 to test them against an old set of dresser drawers. Not only did we demolish the dresser with excessive power, but some of the shots ended up going through multiple layers of the dresser THEN completely THROUGH our industrial beer pallet and into the brush we had setup as a backstop.

I must say I love these rounds. They fly so perfectly because they are weighted and balanced, completely unlike the potatoes and other items I am used to shooting. The great part is that they are so strong they are reusable. We shot all evening, a whole lot more than is in the video, and managed to finally only break 1 from repeated shots through the pallet backstop. I can only dream of how far these would fly in a huge field!

Thank you Spud Files for your time and such a positive review!

Up Close: Sureshot BL-520 Spud Gun in Action

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

Watch the Sureshot BL-520 spudgun takes quick work of TV’s, plywood and car doors.

Test engineers shot our BL-520 through a Chrony® and the results were staggering. After setting up a third test round (100gram potato) the BL 520 achieved a 517 fps & 915 ft/lbs of energy using MAPP gas. The breech loading system proved to be simple, just unscrew the rear cap, shove potato in the rear of barrel and replace the cap.

We ran the vent/mix fan for the duration of our testing, used 2 metered injections of gas set at 39psi and paused for 5 seconds before firing to allow for adequate air/fuel mixing. The fully assembled spud gun just needs a 1lb bottle of Propane/MAPP gas and (2) 9volt batteries. With the interchangeable barrel system, you can swap out to a Golf ball barrel in seconds.
